The S400 and S450 semi-ruggedized router only supports single-port USB-to-Ethernet adapters even though multi-port adapters are available from third party vendors. When connecting a single-port USB-to-Ethernet adapter the default Ethernet VLAN mode will be set to WAN. The user can optionally configure the VLAN mode to LAN by using Connection Manager.
Installation of a USB-to-Ethernet adapter is recommended while the device is powered off, but can be inserted while the device is powered. If connected while powered, a device reboot is required before the USB-to-Ethernet adapter can function. Additionally, the use of USB hubs between the device and adapter is not supported. All supported USB-to-Ethernet adapter types must be directly attached to the device's USB port for proper operation.
