Caution

The cellular AP does not ship with cellular RF antennas or cables. This is a required accessory and must be sourced. Without cellular RF antennas the unit will not work.

Never activate the cell and transmit RF no properly connected antenna. The wireless signal transmission power of the A2415 is powerful, and if the unit attempts to transmit without the antenna, it can cause injury to installation personnel and damage the internal RF power amplifiers.

After surveying the area, and selecting a suitable cellular RF antenna, mount the antenna. Connect the cable by doing the following:

  1. Remove the dust caps from the ANT0, ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 ports you plan to use.

  2. Thread one end of each of the RF cables into a remaining cold shrink tubes.

  3. Connect RF cables to the ANT0, ANT1 and ANT2, and ANT3 interfaces on the cellular AP, and tighten them with an adjustable torque wrench to 1.4-1.7 NM (12-15 in-lbs) torque.

    Note

ANT0 and ANT1 can be used alone for a single carrier. If using a second carrier, connect a second antenna (or two more cables from a dual-carrier antenna) to ANT2 and ANT3.

  4. Push each cold shrink tube until they cover the port and connection, and then pull out the strip. This illustration shows all four cellular antenna interfaces being used, but your installation may use fewer interfaces.

  5. If you are only using two RF cables, you will have two remaining cold shrink tubes:

    1. Thread the free end of each remaining RF cable through a second cold shrink tube.

    2. Connect the other end of the RF cables to the external antenna.

    3. Push the cold shrink tube along the cable until each antenna connector is covered, and then pull out the strip.

Note

Six cold shrink tubes are included, and after connecting the GNSS antenna you are left with four. You have the option of covering both ends of two antenna RF cables, or covering four A2415-side connections only. Depending on the number of cables you plan to attach, you may need to purchase more cold shrink tubes to cover all connectors (both on the A2415 and on the antennas). Leave the dust caps in place on any connectors that you do not use.
