The purpose of the pole grounding is to protect the equipment in the station from the damage of lightning as much as possible. However, the interfaces between the cellular AP and the outside world mainly include power system, grounding system, antenna feeder and surge protection module, and signal line. Therefore, the damage caused by lightning mainly comes from the voltage difference between the equipment in the cellular AP and one or more of the four interfaces.
