You can upgrade modem software using a variety of methods. The following section provides instruction on each method.
Warning
When upgrading modem firmware on devices in mobile applications where power could be controlled by ignition switches or Ignition Sense (GPIO), ensure that the vehicle batteries are healthy or the vehicle's engine is running. Voltage drop (caused by weak batteries or starting the engine) or a loss of power to the router while the modem firmware is upgrading can damage the modem flash to an unrecoverable state that will require device replacement.

Software and firmware are used interchangeably in this document and in NetCloud Manager.
Note
Only routers that are online in Netcloud Manager can be upgraded. If a router is offline when a modem firmware upgrade job is executed, a new modem upgrade job must be created when the device comes back online.
