Complete the following steps to migrate an adapter:

  1. Verify that the designated controller endpoint is running NCOS 7.1.20 or later. See Best Practices for Upgrading Cradlepoint Modem and NetCloud OS Software for upgrade information.

  2. Verify that the designated adapter to run in Captive Modem mode is running the same NCOS version as the controller.

  3. Verify that the controller and the adapter are connected through an Ethernet cable from the LAN port of the adapter to the WAN port on the controller.

  4. Convert the adapter to a captive modem:

    1. Log into NetCloud Manager.

    2. Select Devices in the left-side navigation panel.

    3. Select the adapter from the Routers table.

    4. From the Commands menu, select Convert to Captive Modem.

The adapter will factory reset. Once the adapter reboots, it is running in Captive Modem mode. To confirm, visit the Connection Manager on the controller. The captive modem indicates it is available as a WAN interface.
