When using the Configuration > Edit option in NetCloud Manager, you're creating a configuration template. This template is applied to devices rather than editing them in real-time. As a result, you won't see individual modem interfaces listed directly under Connection Manager in the way you might expect. Instead, you'll need to build WAN profiles that identify and manage specific interfaces. These profiles can then be prioritized within the Connection Manager. The following are two methods for identifying modems for WAN profiles:

  • Using UID (Unique Identifier): Each modem interface has a unique hexadecimal UID assigned by the NetCloud OS. You can find this UID using the CLI command: devices. Once you know the UIDs, create WAN profiles that correspond to each modem, then prioritize them in the desired order. This method gives precise control over which interface is used and when. See Configuring WAN Interfaces for more information.

  • Using SIM Slot Number (Ideal for Group Configuration): Another option is to create WAN profiles based on SIM slot numbers. For example, if you consistently insert a SIM from one carrier into slot 1 and another into slot 2, you can create WAN profiles that reference those slots instead of specific UIDs. This method works especially well for group-level configurations:

    • Ensure SIMs are always inserted the same way across all devices.

    • Create one set of WAN profiles at the group level.

    • These profiles will then apply consistently to all devices in the group, simplifying deployment and management.
