This document explains how to configure a 5G modem on an Ericsson Cradlepoint router to connect exclusively to 5G networks.
By default, Ericsson Cradlepoint routers allow modems to connect to the fastest available network, typically 5G. However, if the 5G signal weakens, the modem may switch to 4G/LTE, which may not be suitable for all use cases. To prevent this, you can configure the modem to connect only to 5G networks, avoiding fallback to 4G/LTE.
When a 5G modem is installed or embedded in the router, the Force 5G Standalone option becomes available on the WAN Interface Profile - Modem page. Enabling this option restricts the modem to 5G Standalone networks, blocking connections to both non-standalone 5G and older technologies like 4G/LTE.
See Identify Cradlepoint Products to identify your router.
