Changing the LAN/WAN Ethernet Port Mode of a Device with Multiple Ethernet Ports

Changing the operational mode of an ethernet port requires moving it from one port group to another.

This example shows how to turn the default WAN port into a LAN port and assign it to the LAN VLAN

Note

If the new LAN port is going to be used in a different LAN than default, a new VLAN interface should be created for it; Else, it should be placed into the existing LAN VLAN interface.

  1. Log into NetCloud Manager.

  2. Select Devices in the left-side navigation panel.

  3. Select a router from the Routers page. Alternatively, to make configuration changes to a group, navigate to the Groups page and select a group.

  4. Select Configuration and then Edit.

  5. Navigate to NETWORKING > VLAN Interfaces.

  6. Select the WAN port group and click Edit

  7. Select Port 0 and click Remove.

  8. Click Yes.

  9. Click Save.

  10. Click OK.

    The removed port is now available to be added to another port group. In this example it will be attach to the existing LAN port group.

  11. Select the LAN VLAN and select Edit.

  12. Add Port 0 into the LAN VLAN using the following steps:

    1. Select Add.

    2. Ensure Port 0 is selected in the drop-down menu.

    3. Select Save on the new port.

    4. Select Save to save VLAN changes.

      The port mode of one of the WAN port has been changed to LAN by moving it to the existing VLAN interface.
