The default behavior for each network filter is to allow access to all URLs, or to ignore web filter rules. Use these steps to change the default.

  1. Log into NetCloud Manager.

  2. Select Devices in the left-side navigation panel.

  3. Select a router from the Routers page. Alternatively, to make configuration changes to a group, navigate to the Groups page and select a group.

  4. Select Configuration and then Edit.

  5. Navigate to Security > Web Access Filtering > Network Web Filter Rules.

    Note

When a network is set to Allow (block list), it will allow access to those sites not blocked in the Filter Rules. Selecting Block (allow list) will only allow access to websites with an Allow action in the Filter rules. All other sites will be blocked. Selecting to Filter URLs by IP Address will cause the router to perform a DNS lookup on URL entries, and the IP addresses will be appended to the appropriate block or allow list. This can have the side effect of being very strict, and sites that are hosted across many domains may need every domain added to the list for full functionality.

  7. In the Default Action drop-down menu, select Block Access.

  8. Select Save.
