Connection sets define a group of interfaces that will all connect or disconnect as a set (all or none). WAN interfaces may optionally be assigned to a connection set.

  • Load Balance – A connection set may optionally be load balanced to distribute traffic among the set members. Click the grid cell to modify. See Load Balancing Modems on a capable Cradlepoint Router for more information.

    Note

When Load Balance is enabled on a connection set, the router uses all set members to increase the data throughput. Adding an interface to an active connection set automatically connects the WAN interface and adds it to the pool of WAN interfaces to use for data transfer. Interfaces configured with different IP modes, such as IPv4-only and IPv4+IPv6, are not load-balanced.

  • Load Balance Algorithm – On load-balanced sets, the algorithm may be selected. Click the grid cell to modify. Options include:

    • Round-Robin – Evenly distribute each session to connected WAN interfaces.

    • Rate – Distribute load based on the current upload and download rates. A WAN interface's upload and download bandwidth values are configured in the General tab of the Profile settings.

    • Spillover – Load is always given to interfaces with the most available bandwidth. The estimated bandwidth rate is based on a combination of the upload and download bandwidth configuration and the observed capabilities of the interface. A WAN interface's upload and download bandwidth values are configured in the General tab of the Profile settings.
