Local User authentication mode performs user validation at the device level, instead of by using remote servers to perform the user validation. Administrators add local users and passwords using the Advanced User Management area on the Router Security page. Use the following steps to add a local user:

  1. Complete the steps in Configuring Advanced Authentication Options.

  2. Select Add in the Advanced User Management section.

  3. Enter a name for the user in the Username field,

  4. Add a password for the user in the Password field and then repeat that password in the Password (again) field.

    Important

User passwords must meet PCI-DSS standards; passwords must contain a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

  5. Select Save.
