VRRP configuration is performed under the target local IP network.

  1. Log into NetCloud Manager.

  2. Select Devices in the left-side navigation panel.

  3. Select a router from the Routers page. Alternatively, to make configuration changes to a group, navigate to the Groups page and select a group.

  4. Select Configuration and then Edit.

  5. Navigate to NETWORKING > Local Networks > Local IP Networks.

  6. Select the target IP network

  7. Select Edit.

  8. Select the VRRP tab.

    Configuration elements include:

    • Enable VRRP checkbox – Check to enable VRRP.

    • Version – VRRPv2 and VRRPv3 may be selected. VRRPv3 is necessary for IPv6.

    • Disable Backup DHCP – This prevents the router from using another router to respond to DHCP requests.

    • Virtual Router IP – The IP address of the virtual router.

    • Virtual Router IPv6 – The IPv6 address of the virtual router.

    • Virtual Router ID – This value must be the same on both the primary and secondary router.

    • Router Priority – The higher priority router becomes the VRRP primary. Range is 1–254. A higher number indicates higher priority.

    • Verify Group – Select the verify group that will trigger the fault state when the verify logic fails.

    • Tracking Object Name – Specify the name of the tracking object that secondary/primary state transitions should target.

    • Fault Priority – Optional value that sets the failover priority of this router when no WAN connection is available. If the value matches the normal router priority, the WAN connection state is not considered. if the value is empty (the default), the router always gives up the virtual IP and lets a new primary router take over when no WAN connection is available.

    • Advertisement Interval – Time in seconds between sending VRRP advertisements. Must match on both routers. Default value is 1.

    • Initial Virtual Router State – The initial state of the router when the VRRP instance first comes up.

    • Authentication – Simple authentication for VRRP messages.

    • Provide Virtual IP in DHCP Leases – Automatically set the DHCP default gateway address and DNS server address to the virtual IP in DHCP leases provided on this network.

    IP Verify

Use the IP Verify section to allow VRRP priority to change based on the results of an IPVerify test. Use the Test Name drop-down list to select the IPVerify test. Select the On Pass option to specify if action should be taken when test passes or test fails. Use the VRRP Priority Adj. field to specify the amount that VRRP priority is adjusted. Use negative values to decrease priority and positive values to increase priority. See Configuring IP Verify for more information.
