Complete the following steps to configure the default connection state:

  1. Click the Gear icon (gear_icon.PNG) in the Default Connect State column of the WAN interface.

Connection Manager page highlighting the Default Connection State Gear icon.
  2. Select the connection state from the Default Connection State drop-down menu.

WAN Management dialog box showing the Default Connection State options.

    Options include:

    • Connect as needed (default) – The interface connects as needed, determined by priority, availability, and configuration.

    • Standby – Causes the interface to connect as soon as ready, but no data is routed to the interface until it becomes active. The interface is more immediately available when an interface change is needed.

    • Always On – Connects the interface and leaves it connected. The interface is considered active, and data may be routed to the interface at any time based on routing and firewall policies.

      Note

All WAN interface links that are part of a bonded interface must be set to Always On.

  3. Click Save.
