If your device is offline and you cannot access it via Remote Connect, local access to the device is required to continue troubleshooting. Use the following procedure to access a device locally.

Note

The Remote Connect feature requires an Advanced subscription.

  1. Connect the computer to the Ericsson Cradlepoint router with an Ethernet cable or wireless connection.

  2. Open a web browser, such as Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer, type http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar, and then press the Enter or Return key on the keyboard. If http://192.168.0.1 does not display the login screen, the default LAN IP may have changed. Go to http://cp/.

    Note

This site is hosted locally on the Ericsson Cradlepoint router; internet access is not required to view this page.

  3. The login screen displays and prompts for the entry of a username and password. The default username is "admin". If the password is unknown or it isn't accepted, see Locating the Default Wireless or Admin Password on a Device.

  4. After successfully logging in, the router's settings can be modified.

  5. Select CONNECTION MANAGER in the left-side navigation panel.

  6. Check the State of the modem to determine next steps.

    Note

Your modem may be different than what is listed here.

WAN Device Interface Profiles and Priority Screen

If no modem is showing in Connection Manager, the modem is not recognized by the router. Try removing all SIM cards and hard resetting the router. If the modem still does not appear in Connection Manager, contact support.

The following table lists all possible states of the modem and the corresponding actions to take.

State

Actions

Activating

The modem is in the process of trying to activate. This can take up to 24 hours, but usually takes no more than 10 minutes.

Available

The modem is ready to connect. However, it will not connect unless the modem above it in priority has failed or lost connection, or if you enable Load Balancing.

Available (Operation failed)

The SIM card has encountered an error and has swapped to the other SIM card.

Connecting

The modem is trying to connect. If it stays at this state, make sure that the antennas are properly attached. You can recheck your signal strength or check your system logs under Status > System Logs.

Connected

If the modem indicates that it is connected, but you cannot access the internet, check for DNS issues. See Troubleshooting DNS Configuration.

Disabled

The WAN profile has been disabled. You can re-enable this profile by checking the Enable/Disable Device/Profile box in the Availability column associated with this profile.

Disconnected

The WAN profile has disconnected. The profile will usually enter an alternative state shortly after this message appears.

Disconnecting

The modem is in the process of disconnecting. The modem will usually not stay at this state for long and will change to Connecting or Suspended.

Network not found

Not applicable to cellular connectivity.

Sibling unready

The modem is in the process of switching from an inactive SIM to an active SIM. The following state is typically "Sibling Transitioning". In some cases, a CPPM error may occur. See Expected Behavior When Switching from an Inactive SIM in Slot 1 to an Active SIM in Slot 2Expected Behavior When Switching from an Inactive SIM in Slot 1 to an Active SIM in Slot 2

Standby

The modem is connected to the tower, however there is no active routing table for this connection.

Standby connecting

The modem is attempting to establish a layer 3 connection to the tower to enter a Standby state.

Dormant

The modem is in a sleep mode. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the modem. You may need to insert the modem into a computer to reactivate it before plugging it back into the router.

Suspended

Select the modem listed for additional information, including any errors.

Unavailable

The modem is in a transitioning state and is currently not ready to connect.  Wait for another state.

Unconfigured

The modem will usually not stay at this state for long and will change to Suspended or Connecting. If your modem stays at Unconfigured, click on the modem to highlight it and expand it open to see more information. There should be an Error. (See the Error table below for troubleshooting instructions.)

The Error shown under the modem will determine what to do next.

Action

CARRIER REJECT

If you have or are supposed to have a Static IP from your cellular carrier, you may need to manually set the APN. You will need to call your carrier to get the correct APN.

See Setting an Access Point Name (APN) for directions on how to change the APN of a router.

NO CARRIER

Ericsson Enterprise Wireless recommends that you contact your ISP to have them double-check your connection and make sure the SIM card and modem are provisioned properly.

NO SIM

This can mean several things: The SIM card is not inserted, the SIM card is inserted improperly, the SIM card or the port for the SIM may be bad, or the SIM card is the incorrect size.

If the SIM card is the correct size and inserted properly, but you are still getting the NO SIM error, then you need to test the SIM card in a different device to eliminate the SIM from being the issue.

See Type and Size of SIM Cards Used in Cradlepoint Modems to help determine the correct-size SIM card for use in your Ericsson Enterprise Wireless product.

BUSY

Reset your modem, and if that does not work, call your ISP.

IP CONFLICT

The device is detecting an IP Conflict. This usually happens when there is something on the network that has the same IP address as one of device's networks.

This can also be due to an incorrectly configured modem, and/or it can be an incorrect configuration on the device.

CPPM FAILED UNKNOWN ERROR

The modem or SIM card is not functioning. Replace one of them to determine which is not functioning.

CARRIER MISMATCH

This indicates a mismatch between the modem software and the SIM card. It is most likely to occur on modems that do not support Auto Carrier Selection. For modems that do not support Auto Carrier Selection, ensure the correct software is loaded. For information about modem software management, see Best Practices for Upgrading Ericsson Cradlepoint Modem and NetCloud OS Software. Also ensure the SIM card is supported by checking the supported firmware list found at Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Accessories.

No Reply Within 20 Seconds

The modem has WAN Verify configured to ping out to a set IP address to verify that the link is still up. Sometimes the carrier will see the constant pings as a potential security risk and block the connection. Try disabling WAN Verify or setting it to active/passive DNS by clicking on the gear sign on the right-hand side of the SIM profile and navigating to the "WAN Verify" tab.
