Some Ericsson Cradlepoint devices feature an internal hardware temperature sensor, allowing NetCloud OS to monitor both the router’s and the modem’s temperatures. This functionality aids in managing these devices in extreme temperature environments.

Devices with a hardware temperature sensor, such as select models, have the sensor enabled by default. The sensor provides real-time temperature data, displayed on the NetCloud OS dashboard in Celsius, along with the high and low temperatures recorded over the last 24 hours. If the router temperature exceeds 80°C, Wi-Fi functionality is automatically disabled to help cool the device.

If the temperature remains above this threshold, the cellular modem is also disabled. When the temperature drops below 78°C, both the cellular and Wi-Fi radios are re-enabled.

Important

The temperature sensor will not power off the router.

Temperature control also allows you to configure alerts and logs for when the router’s temperature falls below a minimum or exceeds a maximum threshold. See the following instructions to set up notifications for temperature limits.
