Following are the requirements to deploy the NetCloud Exchange Service Gateway in a VMware environment using vCenter:
Minimum NCX Service Gateway software version 7.23.80 or later.
Host resources:
2 physical NICs (>= 1 Gb/s)
8 vCPUs
16 GB RAM
16 GB disk space
See DPDK Hardware Compatibility for further hardware requirements.
Software to manage the virtual machine:
VMware ESXi 6.7 U3 hypervisor or newer
vCenter 7.0.3.00500 /vSphere to simplify management
Note
Alternative versions can be used, but this is the one Cradlepoint recommends and can offer the most extensive support.
Disk formats for Thick (16.0 GB) or Thin Provisioning (6.4 GB) options, both are available
NetCloud Add-on Licensing for the NCX Service Gateway (and the secondary NCX Service Gateway, if applicable)
Full administrator system rights to modify the network.
vCenter 7.0.3.00500 is shown in the screen shots contained within this guide. vCenter is not a requirement for installation of the NCX Service Gateway Open Virtualization Format (OVF) file.
The NetCloud Exchange Service Gateway and Secure Connect supported architecture is a fault-tolerant redundancy model with one active service gateway on the primary virtual machine and a standby service gateway on a secondary virtual machine in the same data center.
When installing a standby NCX Service Gateway, Cradlepoint recommends placing the secondary one on a separate VMware host.
