Overview Guide

Not all menu items are active or visible for both types of devices, depending on the device type’s functionality. Menu items that are specific to only the Routers or Wi- Fi APs are noted in the following menu descriptions.

Use the Commands menu to execute commands on a selected router. The following commands are available.

  • Reboot: Sends a reboot command to one or more selected routers.

  • Restore to Defaults: Restores one or more selected routers to their default, factory settings. Group and router configuration settings assigned through are reapplied once this operation completes.

  • Unregister: Unregisters selected routers from .

  • Wi-Fi Site Survey: Searches for nearby endpoints that provide Wi-Fi access. To view the results of Wi-Fi Site Surveys, use the Insights > Network > Rogue WI-FI APs report.

  • Update IPS Signatures: Requests new IPS signature versions for selected routers. The current signature version is displayed in the IPS Version column (not displayed by default). IPS signature can also be scheduled for updates. Select a router(s), click Configuration > Edit, and then click Security > Threat Management > Update Settings to set an update schedule for the selected routers.

  • Ping: Opens a dialog for a ping test, which measures round-trip message times.

  • Traceroute: Allows you to run the Traceroute utility on a selected router to view the times and IP addresses for each hop along a route.

  • Speed Test: Use this to run a Ppeedtest on a selected router for measuring the router’s connection speed, latency, jitter, throughput, etc.{% END %}

  • CloudShark: Make configuration changes to a CloudShark integration.

  • Convert to Captive Modem: Use to connect a Cradlepoint 5G or 4G LTE adapter to a Cradlepoint router and manage them from NetCloud Manager as a single entity.

Note

Update IPS Signatures is only available for routers with a CP Secure Threat Management entitlement.

Use the Remote Connect menu to manage your routers from the Cloud. Remote Connect is a suite of tools for secure, real-time, remote-Cloud management of your Cradlepoint routers. Third party and LAN-connected routers can also be managed using Remote Connect. No additional setup is required on your routers to use Remote Connect.

Note

Remote Connect and LAN Manager session lengths are 60 minutes.

Important

The Remote Connect feature requires that an Advanced license be assigned to endpoints to use the feature. To upgrade a device’s license, navigate to the License tab on the device’s dashboard. Click the Change License button to see the available options for upgrading the device.

Select a router, then select Remote Connect in the toolbar to access the Remote Connect tools. These tools include the following.

  • Console: Open a router’s Command Line Interface (CLI).

  • Device UI: Connect to a router’s Device UI to manage.

  • Out of Band Manager: Use Add/Edit to add, edit, or delete Out of Band Manager (OOBM) profiles on a per-router basis. See NCOS: Out of Band Management for more information on configuring this feature. This command is available on Routers only. An OOBM profile allows you to connect to an out-of-band device with one click from NetCloud Manager.

  • LAN Manager: LAN Manager allows LAN-connected, non-Cloud managed 3rd-party routers to be securely Cloud managed with no setup. LAN Manager must be enabled to connect to LAN-connected routers and to save LAN profiles. Select Add/Edit under LAN Manager to add, edit, or delete router profiles. See NetCloud Manager: Remote Connect LAN Manager for more information on configuring this feature.

  • Quick Connect: Connect to any LAN router without using a profile. LAN Manager must be enabled to use Quick Connect. Connect using one of the following methods:

    1. Manually enter IP address and port

    2. Search the active DHCP table

See Remote Connect Overview for additional help.

To move one or more routers to a different group or account, select the router(s) and then click the Move button. In the Select an Account or Group dialog, select the group or account and then click the OK button to save the move action. (Only groups with the same product type are displayed in the dialog window. To move multiple routers, they must all be of the same product type.)

Use the Settings menu (cog-gray.png) to enable the any of the following features across an account.

  • Remote Connect

  • Auto-Enable Settings

Using the Auto-Enable Settings feature immediately enables the following features when a device is registered.

    • Client Analytics

    • Traffic Analytics

    • Web Filtering

Tip

If a range of selected routers includes routers that don't support one of the above features, the selected features are applied only to routers that support them.

Use the Export button download.png to access the Export menu where you can export information about selected routers as a CSV file. The Export menu has the following export options.

  • Filtered List: Exports information for the routers displayed in the table after filtering the table.

  • All Devices: Exports information for all devices, regardless of how the display in the table has been filtered.

  • Device Logs: Exports the logs of the selected router.

    Note

Log reporting must be enabled in Group Settings to generate logs.

  • Activity Logs - Exports activity log information for the selected router.

  • Diagnostic Data: Exports logs, full config and status after downloading them directly from the router over the stream connection.
