Modem data usage information is generated on routers, and then streamed to NetCloud Manager at specified intervals. This feature requires an Advanced License.
Cellular data usage information is generated by your wireless carriers. NetCloud Manager provides the following methods for viewing modem and cellular data usage:
The NetCloud Manager Dashboard provides a quick, visual overview of data usage for all the devices in an account on the Home, Data Usage, and Cellular Data dashboards.
The Device and Group dashboards provide data usage information for specific devices and groups.
The Insights Network Report allows for the creation of reports containing data usage information.
Alerts can be configured to provide notifications when modems reach user-defined data usage thresholds.*
Note
There is a potential for data loss between devices and NetCloud Manager if, for example, a device reboots before sending a usage sample. The data usage amounts in NetCloud Manager are strictly estimates and are dependent on the data provided by the modem through the device; these may not match the carrier numbers. The carrier is the final authority for billing purposes.
*This article includes information on configuring data monitoring and data usage alerts for modem WAN profiles, as applied to a NetCloud Manager Group. The procedures defined in this article also apply to other types of network interface profiles.
