Mobile Network Operator (MNO) and Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) are both mobile cellular network operators that provide service to subscribers. MNOs own and operate licensed spectrum along with the radio network infrastructure required to broadcast the spectrum. MVNOs lease bulk access to one or more MNO-owned networks to create a unique blended solution they can offer their subscribers. A SIM card issued by an MNO is only able to connect to a single mobile cellular network. In contrast, a SIM card issued by an MVNO is capable of attaching to several different networks based on leasing agreements.
