Certain Ericsson Cradlepoint devices support the use of eSIMs.
The term "eSIM" is a blanket term encapsulating both the hardware and software used to manage a device's cellular connection.
Depending on the Ericsson Cradlepoint device, the hardware can be either an onboard eSIM (soldered to the device's PCB) or a removable eSIM that uses one of the device's SIM slots. See Supported Ericsson Cradlepoint Devices for information on which devices come with onboard eSIMs and which devices are capable of using removable eSIMs.
Regardless of the type of hardware used, eSIMs allow for the management and use of carrier profiles. Carrier profiles contain the subscription information devices need to connect and use particular carriers. They also provide the capability to connect and switch between carriers.
Important
With the release of NCOS 7.26.40 FR1, captive modems support the use of eSIMs.
Note
The Ericsson Cradlepoint eSIM implementation uses SGP.22 eSIM architecture.
