MFA adds an extra layer of security to NetCloud Manager by requiring more than one form of authentication for logins. Use the following procedures to help you set up MFA for your NetCloud Manager account logins.

Authentication

The action of verifying the identity of a user or process. For NetCloud Manager, Cradlepoint relies on valid and unique email address and password combinations to authenticate into a NetCloud account.

MFA

MFA is a security practice that requires more than one method of authentication from independent categories of credentials to verify the user's identity for a login. For NetCloud Manager, in addition to email address and password combinations, Cradlepoint relies on MFA tokens generated from a TOTP application for MFA.

Time-based one-time password (TOTP)

TOTP is an algorithm that computes a one-time password from a shared secret key and the current time.

This protocol is the standard for many two-factor authentication systems, such as Google Authenticator.
