Currently, AutoAPN and Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) do not support Multiple International Mobile Subscriber Identities (multi-IMSI) SIMs. Using multi-IMSI SIMs requires specifying an APN using Default Override. See Setting an Access Point Name for more information. This limitation is caused because multi-IMSI SIMs rotate their IMSI every three minutes when not connected to a network, and AutoAPN requires more than three minutes to connect to some carriers due to their requirements.
In addition, Ericsson Enterprise Wireless recommends that modems used exclusively with multi-IMSI SIMs be locked to Generic modem software. Because modem software matching is based on the PLMN of the SIM (which is part of the IMSI) and multi-IMSI SIMs can change IMSI, the timing of IMSI rotation can cause an arbitrary modem software match. Locking to Generic modem software mitigates this issue because it is compatible with all carriers and will work for any IMSI that the SIM is using.
Note
The Ericsson Cradlepoint IBR200-10M-VZ does not support Multi‑IMSI SIMs. Use of a Multi‑IMSI SIM with an IBR200-10M‑VZ cannot be guaranteed and may not function correctly. Customers who require Multi‑IMSI capability should contact their sales representative to discuss alternative Ericsson Cradlepoint products that support Multi‑IMSI.
